Introducing trezor.io

Second week into the New Year and it finally feels like the right time to properly greet it! And with that, we are starting fresh!

What we are introducing today has been long time coming. It was, after all, hinted at, by the web address of this very blog. Surely, you will notice the difference too, just by looking at the address bar : We migrated all TREZOR-related websites and services to a new and central location — trezor.io. This change was immediate and complete, with redirections from old websites in place, assuring for a smooth transition.

Why have we done so? What benefits will you see? Read more below!

Motivation

The move under trezor.io has been planned for a long time. For many reasons, we have been maintaining separate web addresses for different purposes, such as myTREZOR, BuyTREZOR or BitcoinTREZOR. With this strategy, it was immediately clear which purpose does each of the websites serve. On the other hand, there might have been cases when this scheme could have led to confusion.

The main problem with a large amount of similarly looking websites was the susceptibility to phishing. Recently, fake websites using our design were popping up with an increased intensity. While we did our best to inform about suspiciously looking pages, it was not always effective, and therefore we would like to avoid this altogether.

The move under trezor.io should make phishing more difficult. All you need to remember is that the legitimate website of TREZOR is located at trezor.io, and all TREZOR services will use this domain.

Migration of Websites

The following table will show you where you can find the various TREZOR services. Old links will still work for a foreseeable future, redirecting you to the new addresses.

The structure of the websites will be the same, only the domains are changing. In other words, if you are trying to reach buytrezor.com/sales/, the new address will be shop.trezor.io/sales/.

NOTE
The TREZOR Chrome Extension has been updated to reflect the change of addresses. It may prompt you to enable it again.

New TREZOR Presentation

With the move, we have also prepared a new website presenting TREZOR to the wider public. The old version was begging for an update, so we poured a bit of color on it, and now it feels so refreshed! Check it out, it is directly accessible from the new address: trezor.io.

But most importantly, this redesign gives you, our clients, a perfect place to explore the powers of TREZOR.

Renaming/Rebranding

Some services were also be rebranded. BuyTREZOR will be, from now on, called TREZOR Shop, and myTREZOR Wallet will be simply called TREZOR Wallet.

Whenever referring to the hardware devices, we will use “TREZOR,” “TREZOR 2,” or “TREZOR devices.”

Design Unification

In conjunction with rebranding every service to a united TREZOR brand, we are also moving towards the consolidation of design across services. TREZOR Blog and trezor.io are the first ones to follow the new design, with other services adopting the same color scheme in the subsequent updates.

How will this affect you?

There should not be any adverse effects. All old web links will automatically redirect you to the new addresses. You might just need to update your bookmarks.

In fact, you will definitely benefit from this change. From now on, there should be no confusion about what is located where and which website is legitimate. Subdomains will be configured logically: you will find the TREZOR Shop under shop.trezor.io, or the TREZOR Wallet under wallet.trezor.io.

In case of doubt, you can always access the homepage trezor.io first, in order to get where you want to.

We hope that you will find the new structure better and easier to navigate.
