In our quest to make TREZOR as friendly as possible, we are continuously striving to bring you new updates and new improvements. Today, we are happy to introduce a redesigned — brighter and cleaner — TREZOR Wallet, to better your experience with your daily wallet interface. Let’s have a look at both the surface and underlying changes!

Brighter and cleaner interface

The first thing you will surely notice is that TREZOR Wallet has ditched the darker colors for a new, brighter palette. Dark greys are replaced by lighter variants, black shades have been withdrawn, and in their stead, you will see whites. Highlights such as green and red, like those in the balance graph, are better visible and pop out vividly from the new background.

Why? We realize that more and more of you work with your TREZOR device on a daily basis. It is no longer just cold hardware storage, but it has gradually transformed to a secure everyday wallet. Moreover, we believe that “secure” does not need to be unfriendly to use. In fact, we have always strived to make the interface as user-friendly and intuitive as possible, as we show again with this update.

One of the examples is the improved currency selector. It grew in size, becoming more prominent. We have also added icons for their respective cryptocurrencies, to make it even more evident with which currency you are working. We cleared out the clutter, making the interface cleaner.

This Wallet update also enables sending bitcoins to bech32 addresses.

Yet, many things stay the same, allowing you to seamlessly continue and work with TREZOR Wallet, without the need to learn how to use the new interface. TREZOR Wallet remains a web-based wallet, untied to a specific operating system, allowing for greater flexibility.

All features of TREZOR Wallet

  • Web-wallet interface for: Bitcoin, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, Zcash, DASH (Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, and ERC-20 coming soon)
  • Remembered devices for watch-only mode (non-spendable without connected device)
  • Sending coins to P2PKH, P2SH and bech32 addresses (for supported currencies)
  • Receive address verification
  • Multiple accounts for all supported cryptocurrencies
  • Labeling feature for easy management of your account movements
  • Advanced sending options (OP_RETURN, multiple recipients, locktime)
  • On-device confirmation for all sensitive operations
  • Approximate, real-time value in fiat currency of your choice
  • Firmware version check and update notifications
  • Third-party integrations via TREZOR Connect
  • Custom backend option for advanced users

Bridge and WebUSB

To facilitate the connection to your device, the TREZOR Wallet has historically depended on a Chrome application — the TREZOR Chrome extension — or an independent TREZOR Bridge app. While announcing the release of the new TREZOR Bridge, we have informed you about the plan to discontinue the Chrome app, due to Google’s decision to end their functionality. The new Bridge is a sufficient and lightweight communication tool, but we understand that some of you won’t like installing another program to use the TREZOR.

The solution to this is the WebUSB standard. A TREZOR device (One or Model T) with support for WebUSB will work with Google Chrome, without any additional software needed. We will announce the firmware update for TREZOR One in a few weeks. TREZOR Model T will support WebUSB natively from the initial release.

As a part of the transition towards the new Bridge and WebUSB, the TREZOR Chrome extension will no longer be offered for new users. If you have the extension installed, it will continue to work, but it will not receive updates anymore.

What about the new onboarding process?

We significantly reworked the onboarding process for this Wallet update, reflecting your feedback. Now, it is separated from the initial firmware installation as well as better structured to highlight important parts of the process.
